Our Journey

Built on Trust, Painted with Pride.

From a small painting business established in 1935 to one of the leading painting specialists today, our journey is built on hard work, innovation and a passion for quality.

1948

In 1948

Ray’s son Murray joined the business, along with Brian Stout, and over the following years, the three built the business into one of the biggest and best painting companies in Palmerston North.

1935

In 1935

Founder Ray Pitcher established a painting company. He ran the business successfully throughout Hawke’s Bay, Wairoa and Gisborne Areas.

1960 - 1990

From the 1960s - 1990s

Many major contracts were completed such as Palmerston North Hospital, Mass University, State Insurance, Glaxo, Tui Dairy Factory in Pahiatua and Marton Freezing works buildings.

1989

In 1989

New Developments were in the store and a unique part of our current business was established. A Spraybooth was designed and put to work in one of our premises for the purpose of applying Two-Pack Lacquer Finishes to Kitchen and Furniture.

1940

In 1940

Ray was advised to give up painting due to lead poisoning in 1940, so along with his family, he returned to Palmerston North to take up farming in the Roberts Line area.

1945

In 1945

Because of ill health caused by overwork again impeded Ray’s work, so in 1945 he moved into town and took up painting again.

2007

In 2007

The company moved to new premises in 14 Railway Road from our long term base in Donnington Street. A new State of the Art Spraybooth was purchased and set up.

2017

In 2017

Again in 2017 we were on the move to premises at 33 Kelvin Grove Road and have shifted and set up our Spraybooth. All in readiness to help those with new and Existing Kitchens receive the Two Pack Lacquer Finish.
